More Displays Set To Go Up In White County

Press Release Date

We are happy to announce that on the "National Day of Prayer" of May 7th, White County had a media event celebrating the hanging of our country's nine historical documents in the White County courthouse. The first of these nine documents are the Ten Commandments. Pastor Jim Holmes of Helen First Baptist Church spearheaded the hanging of these documents. With the enthusiastic and unanimous support of White County Board of Commissioners, White County becomes one of almost twenty counties of the 159 in Georgia to hang these documents. "I am very pleased to be a part of a church family and a community that sees the value of publically displaying these very important documents," said Pastor Holmes. "These documents celebrate our past, present and our future. The Ten Commandments are our moral plumb line, and the others anchor us to a legacy and a heritage that values and celebrates our Judeo-Christian heritage and this priceless gift of freedom... most of all our freedom in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ." Travis Turner, the White County Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, said, "It is important that we display documents like these because they ARE the foundation of our country!"

On July 1, 2006, Gov. Sonny Perdue signed into law H.B. 941 http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2005_06/fulltext/hb941.htm authorizing local governments to erect historical displays that include a copy of the Ten Commandments. These displays pave the way for communities to further educate their citizens regarding historical facts about our country's founding.

Ten Commandments-Georgia congratulates White County for making this bold step to take advantage of this new law.

These historical documents are being made available through the ministry of Ten Commandments-GA, Inc. However, TC-GA has never given or placed displays in any government buildings. We serve as a resource for private citizens, churches, civic clubs, and organizations to purchase these documents and to present them for approval to their local governing boards, commissions, and councils.

TC-GA has beautifully designed to legal specifications the nine-piece historical display. You may view these unique designs by logging on to www.thoushalt.org.

The following documents may now be legally posted in a local government building:
